Who knew setting up a blog was so simple

Setting up this blog has been just about the most simple thing accomplished over the past two months. It was less than 3 months ago that Taylor and I made the decision to step into the unknown, give up our perceived stability, let go of our job security, and go to India. When we made the final decision, there were more questions than answers. I can clearly remember the moment that we looked each other in the eyes and asked "regardless of what it looks like, what it means for us, do we feel that God is calling us to go? Or do we feel like this is our own desire for something different?"

As we first considered a temporary move to India, I thought we were talking about having a year to prepare. Taylor wanted to sell everything and just go. Our initial conversation took place in June. I immediately told my boss so there were no surprises. He guessed that we would take off in about six months. I still wasn't sure if we were talking about a pipe dream, or if we were really making plans. Conversations began to gain momentum and Rockharbor started talking about taking the opportunity of having Taylor and I in India to scout out our long talked & dreamed of Residency program. The timeline got shorter and suddenly we found ourselves considering a three month move with five others beginning in January. We gave our affirmative YES in October.

October is turning out to be a defining month for us. October 2nd, 2009 Taylor proposed. January 30th, 2010 we were married. October 2010 Taylor and I made the decision to pack up our stuff, leave our paid jobs, and move to India. January 12th, 2011 we fly out.

We know that God is in this. We have a long list of questions we are attempting to get answered in India. We don't know when we are coming back just yet. And we don't know what we are coming back to. I had to step out of my paid position at Rockharbor in order to go. Taylor has been given a leave of absence with REI. We know that God has been SO, SO good. That He has provided for our every need and He has kept each of His promises. We know that our time here on earth is short and for a purpose. So here we go, to try and live out that purpose and to join God as participants in his global family in India, if even for just a little while.

  3. Beth, be assured that I will be praying for you and T repeatedly while you are away. Actually it won't be much more than what I do now. You and Taylor, Joshua and Lisa (and Eden Joy and Titus Alexander) Naphtali, Chris and little ????) along with Nathan and Jessica are just awesome in your faith and availability to the God of our faith.
Watch yourself over there and make sure Taylor stays out of trouble. Love you. Opps, I almost forgot, your Mother still loves you and, well all of every one that is important in God's eyes. Keep us posted.
